Nov. 2007 I applied for a credit card from Advanta with a zero interest rate for 12 months and paid my bill on time.Jan 2008 I received a notice from Advanta that $90 was overdue. I contacted customer representatives who refused to acknowledge that the payment had been made. The overdue charge triggered late fees and increased my interest rate which is currently 29.99%
I contacted the FTC (Fair Billing and Credit Act), FDIC (Regulation Z), BBB, locally the Nevada Attorney General's office, and writing a Federal Complaint against Advanta Bank Corp which will be posted online.

I have never been late or over limit to this day, even after they closed the business accounts in May. I got a measly $46 check and am debating whether I should cash it. If I don't, I doubt that we will see anything else in any lawsuit. The democratic-controlled congress doesn't seem willing or able to do anything about the crooked credit card companies. |

| 3. Written by JT, on 14-09-2009 13:01 They jacked my rate from 2.99% to 34.99%. Their reason was I was late making a payment inspite of my confirmation # where I made a payment online and before my due date. According to them, They were unable to process the payment to my acct. The Same acct info I've always used. Now for some strange reason did not process. ![]() |
| 4. Written by jim, on 03-09-2009 19:50 my issues are the same as the others, receiving lots of calls, 8am -9pm about money that they owe me! They owe me $31.55 in cash back awards. I have written them to credit that small amount to my account which is the outstanding balance. go figure! Scum bag of a bank just waiting till they send it to a "reall collections then I can own them |
| 5. Written by Sandi, on 28-08-2009 21:04 I had to close my business down due to illness. I was never late on my payments until the last 2 months. I called Advanta to work out something (they told me to go to credit counseling)that wasn't an option. They finally agreed to a hardship making my payment lower for 1 yr,but interest will be accruing for that yr, so next yr. it will be worse. I get calls starting at 9am until 8pm every single day from India. My new payment wasn't suppose to start until 9/11 but it is not much lower and I still can't pay. I don't know what is going to happen when I tell them that news. |

There are lots of good attorneys that would love to go after them. Often they will have to eat the balance due and pay your attorney for their continued harassment |
| 7. Written by texas 2, on 26-02-2009 11:56 I started with 6.99% went to 32.99% then 37.99% and never missed a payment. Paid my balance in two months and now they are trying to collect bogus fees was $5.91 and just added $20.00+, and started collection calls from India. May they ROT ![]() |
| 8. Written by Tim, on 22-01-2009 16:27 I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who had to deal with these scum bags. I signed up with them at 9.9% and happily paid them on time for a couple of years and then they tried to bend me over with 35% interest. I paid them off immediately, but it just amazes me what they thought they could get away with. I was just thinking about doing a balance transfer with them until I called to talk to customer service and had to speak to someone in India. Why would anyone do business with a company for "small business" that outsources their call center to India? |
| 9. Written by D Carpenter, on 17-10-2008 23:51 They did the same thing to me and many many others. If you would like to join our class action lawsuit, please e-mail me (take out the pluses) dec+458+@+msn+.com. |
| 10. Written by Paul, on 17-10-2008 09:16 Add my company to the list. I too called them back and understand the fine print. When I called them the service representative bascially said the good customers are paying for the deliquent customers. Anyone recommend a different card? |
