Advanta Bank Corp Credit Card Fraud

Nov. 2007 I applied for a credit card from Advanta with a zero interest rate for 12 months and paid my bill on time.

Jan 2008 I received a notice from Advanta that $90 was overdue. I contacted customer representatives who refused to acknowledge that the payment had been made. The overdue charge triggered late fees and increased my interest rate which is currently 29.99%

I contacted the FTC (Fair Billing and Credit Act), FDIC (Regulation Z), BBB, locally the Nevada Attorney General's office, and writing a Federal Complaint against Advanta Bank Corp which will be posted online.

If you tell them not to call you at work or at home and they continue, you may sue them. There are lots of good attorneys that would love to go after them. Often they will have to eat the balance due and pay your attorney for their continued harassment

I started with 6.99% went to 32.99% then 37.99% and never missed a payment. Paid my balance in two months and now they are trying to collect bogus fees was $5.91 and just added $20.00+, and started collection calls from India. May they ROT :?

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who had to deal with these scum bags. I signed up with them at 9.9% and happily paid them on time for a couple of years and then they tried to bend me over with 35% interest. I paid them off immediately, but it just amazes me what they thought they could get away with. I was just thinking about doing a balance transfer with them until I called to talk to customer service and had to speak to someone in India. Why would anyone do business with a company for "small business" that outsources their call center to India?

Add my company to the list. I too called them back and understand the fine print. When I called them the service representative bascially said the good customers are paying for the deliquent customers.

Anyone recommend a different card?

I asked Advanta why they ran my interest rate up. The answer was "that information is proprietory", they flat out refused to tell me why. Fortunately I have a 799 credit score and was able to move the balance to a credit union account in five minutes on the phone. The work "Advanta" must be Hindi for "Bait and Switch".

My business had to close I called them and told them that i was closing the business and that I had fouind a job but it paid much less than I was making at the business, and I needed help to lower the payments. other companire have worked with me on this..but Advanta's response you do not qualify for any program, I missed a payment and the phone calls started. Did you all know their call center is in India...I told them to not call me at work, but they still do, I have promised to pay and i still get calls. They told me to go to credit counseling as that is the only way they will lower payments and rate, I did that and was told by credit counsellin that bankruptcy is the only answer, one that I am not willing to take...have told advanta this and all i get is ,..we do not have a program to help you...so i asked theother day if you do not ahve a program, and credit counselling is not an option you would rather have me file bankruptcy and loose your whole balance...the response...we do not at this time have a program to help you...so i told them Iwould pay the the creditors that are willing to work with me...and Advanta will get funds when I can get them.

I have a complaint with the Atty general over them calling me at work after being told not to call me,,and the last call , yesterday, got me put on probation...

They are the worse company...and the fact thayt you cannot talk to someone who speaks and understands english is just not right. Everyone told me to contact the creditors when i knew I was having a problem i did everything I was supposed to,but they are not willing to help,.

My rate went from 7.99% to 25.08%. I have never been late on any payments; pay more than the minimum, and twice a month. We need to file a federal claim, they are getting away with our good earn money.

I am just shocked to see Advanta Statement. Interest Rate Jumped From 15.24% To 35.08%.

They do not want to do anything and I have no money to repay full amount at this time.

As a consumer, what can I do?
